• Corey Helford Gallery •In Midnight Bloom, Ornélie presents female figures that appear composed, yet are already beginning to give way. Beneath the surface, something adapts, reorganizes, survives.
What emerges is not chosen, but necessary. In Midnight Bloom, flowers do not symbolize life. They replace what has been taken, imposed, or silenced. These women do not transform. They adapt to what is done to them. Their bodies become sites of tension, where constraint settles and something begins to emerge in response.
The flowers, and sometimes the butterflies, are not signs of transformation, but of survival.Within these conditions, a force still finds a way to exist, not as freedom, but as a way through.
